The proceedings contain full-text papers presented at the conference on music education entitled „Music Preferences of Youth as a Contemporary Music Education Issue“ organized by the Department of Music, the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University in Brno (CZ) on the 2nd of December 2015. The papers are focused on the problems of music preferences of young people as an important starting point for the current and future school music education. The authors theoretically reflect on the partial results of the extensive nationwide and worldwide empirical researches conducted by a team of academic staff and doctoral students of the above mentioned Department of Music in 2012–2015, especially research „Music Attitudes of University Students to the Contemporary Art Music“ (MUNI/A/1309/2014).

V předkládané monografii vydané elektronicky kolektiv autorů (doc. PhDr. Bedřich Crha, CSc., Mgr. Šárka Vaňková, Mgr. Radka Binderová, MgA. Marek Olbrzymek, Mgr. Markéta Prudíková, Mgr. Lucie Sochorová, Mgr. Kateřina Šrámková a PhDr. Marek Sedláček, Ph. D.) teoreticky reflektuje výsledky rozsáhlého sociologického empirického výzkumu (MUNI/A/0711/2012), který v roce 2013 provedl výzkumný tým Katedry hudební výchovy Pedagogické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Autoři textu zkoumají hudební preference hudby artificiální a nonartificiální u vysokoškolských studentů ve vybraných dvaceti státech EU hudby a výsledky srovnávají se stavem v ČR podle minulých výzkumů (MUNI/A/0885/2011).

Proceedings of papers presented at the XXV. music teacher conference MUSICA VIVA IN SCHOLA organized by the Department of Music, Faculty of Education of Masaryk University, on 19–21 October 2010 in Brno, the Czech Republic. The main theme of the conference „The Use of Multimedia Technology in Music Education“ was based on the research project MUNI/A/1025/2009 conducted by the Department of Music mentioned above. These monothematic conference proceedings presents mainly the results of this extensive nationwide empirical research on the use of the multimedia problems in music education at primary schools in the Czech Republic and on the base of that research indirectly maps the state of current music education in CR.
