Bachelor Theses
Students must begin working on their bachelor theses in the fourth semester of their studies. All students must begin taking courses related to their bachelor’s thesis beginning in their fourth semester. In the fourth semester, there is the course BPP_AJ Bachelor Thesis Project. In the fifth semester, there is the course BP_AJ Bachelor Thesis. And in the sixth semester, there is the course BPD_AJ Bachelor Thesis Completion. (If your thesis is in another department, all of the codes will be different after the “_”.)
Passing each of these courses requires work with a supervisor. You can find out what our teachers are interested in supervising in IS in the application Packages of Topics (under Student). Then you can contact a potential supervisor and work out all the necessary things with them.
Students who are studying a double-subject study program can choose whether to write their bachelor thesis in the English Department or in their other subject. The following notes apply to bachelor theses written in our department.
No matter what the topic, the theses must be written in English.
The thesis must be uploaded into the IS archive by the deadline set by the Study Department. Two printed, spiral-bound copies should be submitted to the supervisor within a week after the deadline.
Evaluation of the thesis will be given based upon a rubric for evaluation. Students should refer to the General Guidelines for Writing Theses, as well as the Sectional Instructions for Theses.
